I fall in the safety first quadrant. While I believe I have the assets to safely pursue total return, I want to avoid the risks of any loss that changes that. And I don’t want that to be my focus/concern. So at the least I want essential needs and established lifestyle level preserved.

Great summary. It would be interesting to take major threats to retirement finances (inflation, sequence of returns, elder abuse, loss of financial fluency over time, ...) and talk they the quadrant how each style is more or less at risk.
